Build Your Own Birdhouse: A Beginner's Woodworking Project

Wooden Birdhouse

Materials:

  • Pine wood boards
    • 1 board of 7.25 in x 6 ft (18.4 cm x 183 cm)
  • Nails or screws
  • Wood glue
  • Paint or stain (optional)

Tools:

  • Saw
  • Drill
  • Hammer or screwdriver
  • Tape measure
  • Sandpaper

Steps:

  1. Cut the pieces:

    • Front and back: 2 pieces, each 7.25 in x 7.25 in (18.4 cm x 18.4 cm)
    • Sides: 2 pieces, each 5 in x 7.25 in (12.7 cm x 18.4 cm)
    • Roof: 2 pieces, each 7.25 in x 6 in (18.4 cm x 15.2 cm)
    • Base: 1 piece, 5 in x 7.25 in (12.7 cm x 18.4 cm)
  2. Assemble the birdhouse:

    • Attach the sides to the back piece using wood glue and nails.
    • Attach the front piece.
    • Attach the base.
    • Attach the roof pieces at an angle.
  3. Finish:

    • Sand all edges and surfaces.
    • Paint or stain if desired.
