How to Build a Simple Bookshelf: Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

Simple Bookshelf

Materials:

  • Plywood or MDF boards
    • 2 boards of 36 in x 12 in (91 cm x 30.5 cm) for the sides
    • 3 boards of 24 in x 12 in (61 cm x 30.5 cm) for the shelves
  • Screws or nails
  • Wood glue
  • Paint or stain (optional)

Tools:

  • Saw
  • Drill
  • Screwdriver or hammer
  • Tape measure
  • Sandpaper

Steps:

  1. Cut the pieces:

    • Follow the measurements above for sides and shelves.

  2. Assemble the bookshelf:

    • Attach the shelves to the sides with wood glue and screws.
    • Ensure even spacing between shelves.

  3. Finish:

    • Sand all edges and surfaces.
    • Paint or stain if desired.
